Audiology Clinics

BACK TO MAIN INDEX

Newton Place Surgery provides an Audiology service for patients aged over 18 who are registered with any practice within East Kent.

If you are suffering from hearing loss, which is not as a result of a build-up of wax, the Audiologist will assess your hearing. During the assessment you will be asked to listen to different frequencies and press a button when you hear a sound.

Depending on the outcome of the hearing assessment, they can provide free NHS hearing aids. The hearing aids are worn behind the ear and are very easy to use. As part of the service, we also provide a follow-up appointment and aftercare.

If you are suffering with hearing loss, please contact reception to make an appointment with a member of our nursing team. They will have a look in your ears, ask some questions to make sure you are suitable to be referred to the Audiologist and then refer you directly into the service.

If you are not a patient at Newton Place Surgery, please contact your own GP practice and ask for a referral. We can be found on the eRS service.

Other criteria applies for patients with existing NHS hearing aids.

Please note: You must have an appointment to check your ear health first. This is to ensure there is no wax occlusion and no current perforations that may contribute to hearing loss. After this, you can have your audiology appointment. If you are not a patient here, you will need to have your ears checked at your own surgery to support the referral.

Ear Syringing at Newton Place Surgery

Ear syringing or ear irrigation is a routine procedure used to remove excess earwax from the ear. We offer a number of these appointments throughout the week at the surgery.
