Flu Clinics 2018
We are now booking for flu clinics. We have set aside dedicated Saturday morning clinics for this vaccination programme. There is a new national programme for flu vaccinations this year. Under this new programme the flu vaccine differs according to patients age and medical conditions and has been developed to benefit patients by ensuring they have the most suitable vaccine that gives them the best protection against flu. The vaccines will be released in batches so our clinics may be slighter later in the year than usual.
Saturday 29th September – for patients aged 65 and over
Saturday 20th October – for patients under age 65

- Due to annual leave and unplanned prolonged staff sickness, we are experiencing a shortage of available routine appointments.
- We do appreciate how difficult it is for patients and staff alike when the next routine appointment is 3-4 weeks away.
- We are trying to recruit a locum doctor or nurse practitioner but, unfortunately without success so far.
- Please bear with us during this difficult time; we can assure you that we are doing everything possible to rectify the situation.
Thank you for your cooperation, patience and understanding and we hope to resolve the situation as soon as possible.
- Meanwhile, don't forget patients can help:
- By remembering to cancel an appointment if you no longer need it.
- Last month there were 353 wasted appointments where patients did not attend their booked appointment and did not cancel it.
- For minor ailments and self-help, such as coughs, colds, aches and pains you can contact the local pharmacy for advice.
- Pharmacists can also help you decide whether you need to see a medical health professional
- Our urgent care clinic will continue to run as usual
The surgery car park is no longer under the management of Newton Place Surgery. As of this month, it falls under the management of Smart Parking. A maximum stay of 1 hour now applies.
If your car remains in the car park for over the hour, you will receive a fine in the post from Smart Parking. Please note, blue badge holders are not exempt. We are aware that patients may legitimately be in the car park for longer than one hour as certain clinics may run late. Patients attending urgent care clinics will be asked by the receptionist checking them in to write their registration number on a list. If your attendance in that clinic exceeds an hour you will be exempt from a parking ticket.
If you are attending a routine appointment and are in the surgery for longer than an hour, please inform the receptionist who will check your appointment times and will ask you to add your registration number to the exemption list for that day.
It is the patient’s responsibility to ensure that all registration numbers are written clearly on the appropriate list to avoid a ticket being issued.
Please note- parking charge appeals cannot be dealt with on site. All appeals must be made to email@example.com or in writing to: Smart Parking Ltd, Unti 43, Elmdon Trading Estate, Bickenhill Lane, Marston Green, Birmingham, B37 7HE, quoting your PCN number.

The surgery does have a car park for patients which gets extremely busy and congested at times. There are other car parks close to the surgery which patients may choose to use. For cyclists, there is a bike rack available at the side of the building.
Alternatively, there is a bus service or the train.
