Contraception, Family Planning & Women's Health

Coil and Implant Clinics

We run regular Long Acting Reversible Contraception Clinics (Coil/Implant Clinics)  here at Newton Place. These clinics are open to all patients interested in attending, not just those registered with us.

Women's Health Clinics

Our nursing team run daily Women's Health Clinics for patients requiring HRT checks, Pill checks and contraceptive injections.


Cervical Screening Clinics

Our nursing team run daily Cervical Screening Clinics for patients who need to have a smear test. These appointments are also available for booking online via one of the many GP online services including the NHS App. 


Chronic Illness Clinics

Asthma Clinics

We have a team of dedicated respiratory nurses who run clinics to help improve the health and well being of our asthma sufferering patients.

Spirometry Clinics

If you are advised to have a spirometry test, we have appointments available weekly with our nursing team.  You can find out more about Spirometry tests by clicking here.


Diabetic & At Risk of Diabetes Clinics

At Newton Place Surgery we are committed to ensuring all our patients receive appropriate care for the management of their diabetes. We run regular diabetes clinics to improve the health and well being of diabetes sufferers.
These reviews will take place in the month of your birthday and more frequently if the diabetic nurses advises. If you have any queries, please don't hesitate to email/call us and ask to speak to one of our diabetic nurses.

If you require a blood test the surgery offers a daily phlebotomy service. Please contact the surgery if you wish to make an appointment.  If you find it easier to go to the hospital for a blood test then Kent and Canterbury offer a phlebotomy service on week days.

24 Hour Blood Pressure Monitoring

We offer 24 Hour Blood Pressure Monitoring appointments with our HCAs throughout the week. These appointments are bookable by GP referral request. 


Electrocardiogram (ECG)

An electrocardiogram (ECG) is a simple test that can be used to check your heart's rhythm and electrical activity. We offer these appointments daily and they are only bookable by GP request only.



A Doppler is a test that uses sound waves to measure the amount of blood flow through your arteries and veins, usually those that supply blood to your arm and legs. Our nursing team offer weekly doppler appointments for those patients who require this sort of test. 


Other Nurse Clinics

Anti-coagulation/Warfarin Clinics

Patients on warfarin medication need regular blood tests and their warfarin doses monitored. This is done by specially trained anticoagulation nurses at Newton Place Surgery. We hold weekly anti-coag clinics atleast twice a week. 


Leg Ulcer Dressing & Post Op Dressing Clinics

Our nurses will carry out wound dressings in their dedicated dressing clinics. We have specifically allocated post-operation dressing appointments and ulcer dressing appointments available daily.


Immunisation / other Injection Clinics

Although many immunisations will be given at school, missed immunisations may be done at the surgery by a nurse. Please specify the immunisation needed when you make an appointment. 
We also offer specific appointments for patients who need B12 injections, pneumonia, flu, shingles, Prostap, MenACWY, Clexane, Zoladex etc


NHS Health Checks

Our HCAs offer daily NHS Health Check appointments for those patients who have received their invite letter. NHS Health Checks can tell you whether you are at higher risk of getting a certain health problem. Please note, you cannot have a free NHS Health Check unless you have been specifically invited.

Catheter Management

We have specially trained Nurses who offer catheter management appointments for patients who require them. We also offer daily Urgent Catheter Management appointments for patients who need to be seen on the day.


Travel Vaccinations

If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with a travel clinic.  It is important to make your appointment as early as possible  - at least 6 weeks before you travel. You must obtain a travel brief before arranging an appointment in one of these clinics.

Ear Syringing

Ear syringing or ear irrigation is a routine procedure used to remove excess earwax from the ear. We offer a number of these appointments throughout the week.


Ramipril Medication Titration

Ramipril is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Our Practice Nurses offer Ramipril Check appointments to monitor patients on this medication.
