Flu Clinics 2020

We are now taking bookings for the flu vaccination. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and in order to maintain enhanced standards of infection prevention and control, we have set aside dedicated appointment time slots for this vaccination programme. These are available from 7:30am to 7:30pm Monday to Friday and from 8:00am to 1:30pm on selected Saturdays.

Please call us on 01795 530777 to arrange an appointment.  When you book your appointment you will be given a dedicated appointment time. Please do not attend the surgery more than 5 minutes before your appointment time. This is to ensure we maintain clinical safety for both patients and staff. If you are attending a Saturday clinic you will be met by our patient co-ordinators in the surgery car park, where patients will queue whilst waiting for their appointment slot.

 

Who should get the flu vaccine?

This year the flu vaccine is being offered on the NHS to:

  • adults aged 65 and over
  • people with certain medical conditions (including children in at-risk groups from 6 months of age)
  • pregnant women
  • people living with someone who's at high risk from coronavirus (on the NHS shielded patient list)
  • children aged 2 and 3 on 31 August 2020 i.e. date of birth between 1st September 2016 to 31st August 2018
  • children in primary school – will be given in school
  • children in year 7 (secondary school) – will be given in school
  • frontline health or social care workers

Later in the year, the flu vaccine may be given to people aged 50 to 64. More information will be available later in the autumn. However, if you're aged 50 to 64 and in an at-risk group, you should not delay having your flu vaccine.

Further information about booking child flu vaccinations will be provided once delivery schedules are confirmed.

In line with the latest guidance, if you have a high temperature, dry cough, loss of smell and/or taste, please do NOT attend the surgery. 

Please remember it is essential to wear a face covering when entering Newton Place Surgery. As per government guidance, we would expect you to provide your own face covering.

Child Flu

We are now taking bookings for the Child Flu immunisation. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and in order to maintain enhanced standards of infection prevention and control, we have set aside dedicated appointment time slots for this immunisation programme.

Who should get the Child flu immunisation?

This year the flu immunisation is being offered on the NHS to:

  • children aged 2 and 3 on 31 August 2020 i.e. date of birth between 1st September 2016 to 31st August 2018 at GP surgery
  • children in primary school reception to Year 6 – will be given in school
  • children in secondary school Year 7 – will be given in school
  • children aged 2 to 17 with long-term health conditions – at GP Surgery or at school for Reception to Year 7
